OTS 077 – Culture Trumps Strategy – Paul Teshima

Share the goodness!

Today’s guest believes that company culture trumps strategy every time and that storytelling is an essential part of creating a business. He has a successful track record as a leader with a strong focus on sales and customer engagement.

As part of Eloquas executive team, he helped lead the company from $0 to over $100 million in revenue, then through IPO and a successful acquisition for $957 million by Oracle.

Most recently, he is the CEO and Co-Founder of Nudge.ai. He and his co-founder knew that the best sales professionals understand that people buy from people they know, like, and trust. In a world that’s becoming overloaded with information, it’s becoming harder to build trusted, authentic relationships with buyers and existing customers. Their answer was to build a modern sales platform that uses artificial intelligence to provide sales teams with actionable insights on their target customers.

Please join me in welcoming Paul Teshima

In this episode we explore:

  • his thoughts on leadership: “Some people are good managers but they are not good leaders. Other people are good leaders but they are not good managers. Great leadership is about how you make people feel when they are doing things. A great leader makes people feel good about themselves and the work they are doing.”
  • how his passion for the journey of meeting people and growing a team led him and his co-founder to start Nudge.ai.
  • his observations of thousands of deals and sales cycles that taught him that the best salespeople are the ones who are able to build trust with their customers.
  • how he desires to help salespeople better manage their networks and leverage them, and to offer them support to be better at building relationships.
  • his belief that weak connections are actually a great thing because it is the only way to expose yourself to different opportunities and ways of thinking.
  • how he makes it a point to connect with someone who has had meaning in his life every single day.
