Show Notes
Life has a way of doling out lessons and we would do ourselves some good if we listened. When we think about the army, we may wonder, what lessons can it actually teach us. As it turns out, lots.
This episode of The Entrepreneurial You podcast examines some of the lessons being in the army can teach us.
You won’t always have all information.
You never have all the information you need to make a decision. Nevertheless, you must think on your feet quickly and make the decisions that you take. You must be able to live with the consequences of the decision that you take.
Leadership
Being a veteran requires that you are able to lead effectively. Similarly, being an entrepreneur requires that you lead a team well if you want to have success. You are 100% responsible for those who are aiding in carrying the vision forward. The focus has to be outward on the people you lead and not inward on self.
Team Player
You need to have empathy, understanding the concerns of those whom you lead. Once your team understands why, the how becomes pretty simple. They must know the mission and fall into place. Trust is also important. It is like the glue keeping the team together.
Debriefing
This is a process of doing a post-mortem is important. What was done well and lessons learned for future. The leader should give the team an opportunity to have their say.
TOP TIP:
For everything that is negative, find something positive. Find solutions from challenges.
