The Yellow Sheet

Share the goodness!

Episode 162 of our week-daily virtual coffee, which takes place in Alpha Collective’s discord server: discord.gg/alphacollective and Clubhouse’s Startup Club from 8-9am EST. It’s free and open to anyone from anywhere in the world.

During the month of February we’ll be reading Patrick Lencioni’s Four Obsessions of an Extraordinary Executive. Quote of the session from the book: Senior people should get less rope because in the process of hanging themselves, they snag other people too!

Some of the highlights from today’s session included:

  1. Organizational health is as important, if not more important, than organizational intelligence for long-term success. Healthy cultures are better able to adapt and overcome challenges.
  2. Strong leadership, especially from the CEO, is critical for developing and maintaining a healthy organizational culture.
  3. Focusing on a small number of clear priorities, as Rich O’Connor did with his “yellow sheet,” can help leaders be more effective.
  4. Making tough decisions about personnel issues promptly, rather than delaying, is important to avoid harming the organization.
  5. Prioritizing hiring and onboarding the right cultural fits is an important role for leaders to play directly.
