What inspired your podcast? How has it evolved over the years?
I wanted to highlight the mindset, evolution, and tangible behaviors and actions of Black, African diaspora professionals who live and lead from unity, and not division among Black cultures. It has evolved from diaspora stories to focusing on skill building among this group of professionals and continues to evolve to how the stories and skillsets are applicable in daily life.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started your first podcast?
I wish I knew the importance of distribution, and marketing. This started as a passion project, and number of downloads was never the goal or focus. As I grow; however, I understand the importance of placing ads, and having a consistent promotion schedule going on. I also wish I knew that there will be moments when I would run out of steam for the show, and all that means is that that particular goal has either been completed, or evolved.
What are your long-term podcast goals?
- Continue to be an global education resource for my audience
- Feed as an authority and credibility booster for my brand
- Be the podcast of choice for international accelerators and universities on the topic of diversity and inclusion, and emotional intelligence for continental Africans and the African diaspora
