Agile marketing expert John Cass is a freelancer, who works with companies and marketers to
shape and deliver effective marketing campaigns.

John Cass has been hosting the Global Agile Marketing Podcast since May 2020, where he shares
insights, interviews, and more about the state of agile marketing from around the world; he also
hosts the Deep Dive into Agile Marketing podcast.

What inspired your podcast? How has it evolved over the years?

I started Deep Dive into Agile Marketing before this one. The Business Agility Institute previously
hosted the Global Agile Podcast. They are based in Australia, and by necessity they have a global
perspective and sense of outreach. When I conducted an interview with a colleague in another
country, that combination gave me the idea to do podcast episodes on “The State of Agile
Marketing” in other countries.

If you have more than one podcast, tell us about the others…

The original idea for the Global Agile Marketing podcast was to conduct podcasts with marketers,
though not agency people, so that marketers can gain insights into case studies on how agile is
used for marketing.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started your first podcast?

The podcast has been an evolution in learning. I started with doing the podcasts in English, and then
added the interviewee’s language. But taking the transcript in English and providing it to the
interviewee, who read or answered my same questions back in their own language. We’ve had
podcasts in German, Turkish, Spanish, Japanese, and more. I learned to create two podcasts: one in
English and the other in the other language. I really believe having the podcasts in both languages
makes a statement and also gives access to a podcast on agile marketing in the interviewee’s own
country. Again, I was inspired by the Business Agility Institute and marketers coming together to
share ideas about the use of agile globally.

What are your long-term podcast goals?

My plan:

  • Do more podcasts covering more countries.
  • I’d like especially to get a podcast with a marketer from France. I cannot believe we don’t have a
    podcast in French yet!
  • I’d like to take the podcasts and create a book based on the concept.

What is your podcast signoff?

Usually, I end with my thanks to the guest by first name, and then say, “We’ll see you next time!”

I wrote a book about corporate blogging in 2007.

I’m really curious how AI is going to change marketing, and how agile can help with conversations in
companies about the marketing concept. Is AI really saving money, or adding value?
